Can You Believe It? Still Legal to Require Women to Wear High Heels in the UK

As outdated and sexist as it is, it is still legal in the UK for companies to require women to wear high heels at work.  I’m not sure about the laws in the US, but I would sure hope we’ve moved beyond this type of thinking here.  The evidence of the damage poor foot posture does is overwhelming and must not be downplayed.

The British Society of Chiropodists and Podiatrists has tabled a motion at TUC Congress highlighting the issue.  A survey of 2000 women in the UK done in 2013 revealed 90 percent of the respondents reported foot problems due to wearing high heels.

Please let us know if you are required to wear high heels, or know of a company that does require it and let’s have a dialog of why that needs to change.
